Room Measurements

📏How to Measure Rectangular Rooms
1

Measure the Length

Use a tape measure to find the longest wall at floor level.

2

Measure the Width

Measure the wall perpendicular (at 90°) to the length.

3

Include All Areas

Include alcoves and doorways. We’ll add 100 mm trim allowance and can add 10% waste.

L-Shaped Room Measurements

📐How to Measure L-Shaped Rooms
1

Divide into Rectangles

Split your L-shaped room into two rectangular areas (Area A and Area B).

2

Measure Area A

Area B (Extension)

Stairs & Hallways Measurements

🏠How to Measure Stairs & Hallway
1

Stairs (Flight)

Count the steps and measure one step’s total depth (tread + riser, measured on the slope). Also measure the flight width.

2

Hallway

Measure hallway as a rectangle (longest length × full width). Add a landing if present.

3

Waste

We allow ~20% waste for stairs and ~10% waste for hallway/landing. 100 mm trim allowance is included on rectangular areas.

Hallway (Rectangle)

Note: Stairs include ~20% waste. Hallways and landings include 100 mm trim + ~10% waste.
